Welcome Berkshire Residency Exchange (BRE) Artists to the region and meet the resident artists of Project Art including COVET artist Forrest Lesch-Middleton, Misty Gamble, Helen Otterson, Tara Polansky.   Join ArtBerkshires for a Hilltown style, by the river, pot luck barbeque, 7:30 tour of studios and presentation on various artist-in-residence programs in the US and abroad.

Thursday, July 19th
1: 00 P.M.  iCOVET …. MCLA Gallery 51, North Adams
Join ArtBerkshires for an iCOVET conversation with mixed media installation sculptor Ven Voisey about his current show V.S. and how history informs contemporary in his work through sound and image.

2 – 4 P.M. – MEET ME AT….  MASS MoCA, North Adams
Join ArtBerkshires and Leslie Ferrin for a behind-the-scenes visit with curator, Denise Markonish and COVET artist Nicholas Kahn for a tour of Oh, Canada  followed by a private tour with artist Michael Oatman of his installation, all utopias fell’, in the suspended Air Stream trailer.

7 p.m. P.M. – 3rd Thursday in Pittsfield – COVET: Art + Objects at Ferrin Gallery Join ArtBerkshires and Leslie Ferrin in the air conditioned comfort of Ferrin Gallery for a tour of the exhibition.

Friday, July 20th

10 A.M. – 12 P.M. – MEET ME AT….  Hancock Shaker Village, Pittsfield – Throwers and Shakers
Join ArtBerkshires for a behind-the-scenes visit with collections manager, Lesley Herzberg  and COVET artist Frances Palmer for a tour of current exhibition A Promising Venture: Shaker Photographs from the WPA and Palmer’s selected spaces in the village that inspired her recent work in COVET: Art + Objects at Ferrin Gallery.
Admission will be free all day on July 20th at Hancock Shaker Village.

3 – 4 P.M. Lichtenstein Center for the Arts – The Confidence Man: His Masquerade.
Join Williamstown painter Douglas Paisley in a conversation on how Herman Melville’s last major novel, The Confidence Man, inspired his solo show of work.

5 – 6 P.M – MEET ME AT … the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute, WilliamstownJoin ArtBerkshires at The Clark in Williamstown for a behind-the-scenes visit with curator, Kathleen Morris and COVET Artists – Joshua Field, Maggie Mailer, Michael Rousseau, Mara and Roy Superior for a conversation about the project and highlights from the current exhibitions including the European Porcelain in the Clark Remix exhibition and new discoveries in Unearthed: Recent Archaeological Discoveries from Northern China.

Wednesday, August 1st

MEET ME ALL DAY AT… | Norman Rockwell Museum, Chesterwood, Sohn Fine Art, Red Lion Inn
Join ArtBerkshires in a full day of MEET ME AT …. programs and behind-the-scenes visits led by photographer and gallerist, Cassandra Sohn.  Spend the day in Stockbridge with COVET Artists Michael Boroniec, Michael Rousseau and collection curators starting at 10:00 A.M. with Stephanie Plunkett at Norman Rockwell Museum 11:30 with Anne Cathcart at Chesterwood and a walking tour of the sculpture exhibition.  Enjoy lunch on the studio porch with director Donna Hassler followed by a tour with Cassandra Sohn of her exhibition, A Sea Feeling in the Mountains.  Follow her back to the Stockbridge galleries for a visit to Sohn Fine Art and Schantz Galleries.  End the day with a guided tour of collections at Red Lion Inn and drinks on the porch.

Opening Reception and Dinner for Zea Mays Printmaking in the Loo Gallery
Join ArtBerkshires at Dream Away Lodge in Beckett for a behind-the-scenes visit and dinner with entrepreneur and host of the legendary Dream Away LodgeDaniel Osman. Take a short tour of the lodge’s grounds and gardens, wildflower labyrinth, coveted plants, trees and spaces followed a brief look at some of Daniel’s coveted collections.  Enjoy a delectable dinner by Chef Amy  Loveless celebrating the opening of COVET: Daniel Osman Picks from Zea Mays Printmaking, the latest in an on-going series of collaborative presentations between Dream Away Lodge, Zea Mays Printmaking and the Ferrin Gallery.

Friday August 3rd

Join ArtBerkshires at Ferrin Gallery for an introduction and presentation of the work of the at risk Bridge students from Taconic High School done through IS183’s Berkshire Residency Exchange (BRE) ArtistsDina Noto, of Rochester New York, Noor Al Suwaidi of the United Arab Emirates and Bembol dela Cruz of the Philippines – introduce and present the work of the at risk Bridge students from Taconic High School.  The talk will begin at 7pm.

 

Saturday August 4th

4 – 6:00 P.M. Opening Reception at Ferrin Gallery, Pittsfield
Join ArtBerkshires at Ferrin Gallery  for the opening receptions for COVET’s featured artist Maggie Mailer, Starry Outpost and ceramicist Kip O’Krongly: Solo Exhibition of Studio Pottery.

 

Wednesday, August 15th

7:00 – 8:00 P.M. iCOVET, Ferrin Gallery

Join ArtBerkshires for conversation with painter, Maggie Mailer and Maria Mingalone, director of interpretation at the Berkshire Museum and about how history informs contemporary art practice and Mailer’s use of museum painting collections in her recent artwork produced for COVET. Mailer’s solo exhibition, The Starry Outpost features paintings based on observations of 18th century landscape and portraiture in collections of The Clark, Williamstown and the Berkshire Museum, Pittsfield. Seth Rogovoy, editor and publisher of The Rogovoy Report and author of “Bob Dylan: Prophet Mystic Poet” and “The Essential Klezmer” will be the moderator of the conversation series.

Friday, August 17th

5 – 6 P.M.  MEET ME AT … the Berkshire Museum, Pittsfield

Join ArtBerkshires at the Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield for a behind-the-scenes visit with co-curator and director of interpretation, Maria Mingalone, to explore how the voice of contemporary artists has influenced the curatorial approach for the exhibition Rethink! American Indian Art. In organizing  Rethink! six contemporary American Indian artists were brought to the Museum to respond to the museum’s historic Indian Art collection Their responses are incorporated throughout the exhibit—in the graphic panels, on the label text, and as part of the selection of objects—bringing an living Indian ‘voice’ to the historic collection.
